Jimmy Rankin "Morning Bound Train"February 18, 2004 - CMT Canada's "Made in Canada" Feature Fresh from his cross-Canada tour with Keith Urban and Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Jimmy Rankin has brought us a new video that strips everything down to the most important thing, the music.
“Morning Bound Train” features Jimmy and his band, Mark MacMillan on
banjo, Ed Woodsworth on bass and Cheryl Smith on drums playing inside the
airy interior of a warehouse-like space. According to Jimmy’s website at
least one of the locations is Café Bella Muse in Halifax. The bulk of the
clip has Jimmy and the band performing the song in a very acoustic-style
set up, which connects with the approach of Jimmy’s sound overall.
Animated moves on frozen “moments in time” punctuate throughout.
Released at the beginning of September, Jimmy Rankin’s ‘Handmade’ is “an album that bursts with the joy of making music that doesn’t need life support from a studio full of electronic gadgetry”, according to the CD notes on-line. Inspired by insomnia and written while on a trip to Mexico, “Morning Bound Train” is just one great example of its warm, organic approach. Jimmy Rankin is bound and determined to have you singing this catchy number in your sleep.
